Benneficial Effects of YOGA


Yoga classes are extremely popular in health clubs(and at Exhale Fitness Studio Co.) and universities across the country. Yet, until recently we've had very little research showing yoga's benneficial effects. That's changing. Recent studies found that yoga and conventional back classes produce similar improvements in back function and reduced pain. An eight-wee study showed that yoga was superior to wrist splints for reducing symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. A small study in arthritis patients showed that eight weeks of yoga training reduced knee pain and stiffness. In older people, yoga improved flexibility, balance, and muscle endurance, which helps prevent life-threatening falls and improves quality of life. Yoga is an impportant exercise for improving muscle and joint health.(IDEA Fitness Journal, October 2009)

New duds=new "gym" inspirations!!

Hey there all my WARRIOR and FITNESS MACHINES!! So it's February and you may be feeling the "slack" in the gym; not quite as "go-hard" as you were back around January 3rd, but never fear b/c I have just the suggestion!! What YOU need are some NEW DUDS aka new gym-wear!! Go out and purchase yourself some new kicks(sneakers), some new athletic attire(we have some gorgeous HARDTAIL FOREVER apparel at Exhale), or even grab a new YOGA mat(Target has a great selection w/lots of colors to choose from). When you have new gear, you feel more apt to put IT on and rock the gym!!! If your kicks are worn, def update b/c sneakers DO HAVE a life and it's NOT FOREVER. Worn sneakers can lead to injury so update those when needed. You control your "health-destination," so get up, get moving, and GET IT; no one is stopping YOU but YOU!! Winter Weather Workouts!!


Happy Monday Warriors!!
Now that you've over-indulged this weekend from Super Bowl parties, head on over to Exhale Fitness Studio Co. where we're sweat'n it off/out 30 times per week!! With 30 classes to chose from and a 5300sqft facility, you're sure to benefit from the Britany Allison Method!!

Winter weather doesn't mean you have to skip the gym and grab your snuggie; in fact, it means you should go "hard" and transform your mind, body, and soul before the spring season hits. Here are a few winter workout tips:

1.) Create a workout Log: it's always best to have a plan before you hit the gym. Know what you want to do before you even put on your kicks(sneakers). Even if you only have 30 minutes to workout, know before-hand exactly what YOU NEED to get done.

2.) After you complete your workout, check it off your to-d-list; you will feel accomplished and satisfied.

3.) STRETCH!!! Burr it's cold out there and your muscles feel every bit of that winter temp!! Be sure to stretch daily even if you don't workout on that day, take a few moments and get some quality stretches in especially in the morning when first stepping out of bed. The stretches will get the body warm even before you hit the shower and send solid chemicals to your brain which will get your day off to a much better start.
